“My aim was to express myself spontaneously, without having prepared a sketch. I wanted people to feel a sense of peace, gentleness, and light, because I think we need that so much. I was inspired by an iris I saw in Old Le Mans, which was magnificent and so generous. It immediately transported me to the world of Georgia O’Keeffe, whom I greatly admire because her work is very feminine and sensual, somewhere between abstract and figurative.
That’s the case here; you can see a dreamlike world, clouds, a butterfly, a flower. There are a thousand and one possibilities: I set an initial intention, and then the rest is up to the viewer. The one and only reason I’m an artist is because I want to be in contact with color. Art is perhaps even a pretext for being able to be with it and the spread.”
